AUSTIN, Texas - Students at Lake Travis High School got the chance to imagine themselves as surgeons on Monday.

Baylor Scott and White Hospital sent over their Da Vinci surgical system for the students to test out.

The students were able to see how their interests in medicine, robotics and engineering can be applied to real life.

"They are very excited and it's just so much different than a picture. To have something that looks like something they would do in surgery, that what they're looking at it representative of that. That they're able to pick up very small pieces and just get to use it is just really neat," said teacher Lori Wristers.

The students performed mock surgeries on the gastrointestinal area.
