CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has a new police chief.

Superintendent Clayton Wilcox announced Lisa Mangum Tuesday night. She's the first woman to serve in the role.

Most recently she has served as the CMS Deputy Police Chief.

Before joining the school system, Mangum spent 13 years with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police as a sergeant with homicide, drug interdiction and patrol.
