NATIONWIDE -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled more than a million pressure-assisted flushing systems citing reports they can cause toilets to explode.

• The recall affects 1.4 million units of the Flushmate 2 501-b 
• Check to see if the device was manufactured from September of 1996 through December of 2013
• Contact Flushmate to request a free replacement and installation by a technician

Some people have reportedly suffered lacerations due to flying debris. The recall affects 1.4 million units of the Flushmate 2 501-b installed in toilet tanks manufactured from September of 1996 through December of 2013.

Consumers are being told to turn off the water supply to the unit and flush the toilet to release the internal pressure. Then, you should contact Flushmate to request a free replacement and installation by a technician.
