The servicemen aboard the plane were flying from Camp Lejeune to California for training when it crashed.

The group of 30 honoring the victims will travel for the next two weeks, relaying rucksacks of dirt and sand from the crash site in Mississippi.

Sunday, family and friends of those victims gathered in Mississippi for a ceremony to unveil a memorial honoring the servicemen.

The memorial displays an image of a plane set in granite surrounded in a circle by the engraved names of the victims.

When the group arrives at Camp Lejeune, they will use the dirt from the crash site to plant a tree in the victims' honor.
