CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mecklenburg County Commissioner Matthew Ridenhour is giving credit to the public health department for how they've handled the recent Hepatitis A exposure.

A west Charlotte Hardee's employee was diagnosed Monday and the public was alerted Tuesday. Since then, close to 2,000 people have gone to the department for a free vaccine.
On twitter, Ridenhour chastised anyone who questioned if response times would be faster if it were in another, affluent neighborhood.
"Don't think that it’s very helpful in this day and age. There is no difference in quality of care or services one might get from the county based on where they live," he said.
The vaccine schedule is now extended into next weekend.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, you can go to the Beatties Ford Road and Billingsley Road locations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Wednesday, Independence Day, and Saturday only Beatties Ford will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
