CHARLOTTE -- One man has been arrested after police say he stole a woman's car at gunpoint Wednesday morning before crashing in north Charlotte.

Police say the woman called them just before 9 a.m. and said the man robbed her on the 2200 block of Catherine Simmons Avenue.

An hour later, officers saw the car near Statesville and attempted to stop the driver who refused, which led to a chase.

It ended near the intersection of North Tryon Street and West 29th Street, with the suspect jumping out of the car and running off.

He was caught a short time after along North Pine Street and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police have not released any names or charges yet.

No other injuries were reported.
