RALEIGH -- A Raleigh mother has been arrested after multiple videos surfaced on social media appearing to show her forcing her infant to smoke marijuana.

Brianna Ashanti Lofton, 20, has been charged with two counts of felony child abuse, contributing to delinquency and possession of marijuana after the video sparked outrage on Facebook.

At last report, Lofton was being held at the Wake County Detention Center and the child had been placed with protective services.

Raleigh police thanked everyone who brought the video to their attention.

"We appreciate the public's help in this matter," said RPD Lt. Jason Hodge. "We welcome and encourage any assistance the public is willing to give us at all times."

In court Thursday, Lofton's bond was set at $100,000. Her next court appearance is set for mid-April.
