SUNY has revoked the honorary degree it awarded to former UB student Harvey Weinstein.

University officials say Weinstein’s alleged actions are “inconsistent with the values and policies of the University at Buffalo and the State University of New York.”

Weinstein is accused of sexually assaulting nearly two dozen women over the course of two decades. Many of his reported victims are coming forward now for the first time.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the university says “We at UB are collectively offended and disappointed by Mr. Weinstein’s alleged and admitted conduct. In seeking this revocation of the SUNY honorary degree, the University at Buffalo is also clearly stating that sexual harassment or sexual misconduct will not be tolerated.”
