BUFFALO, N.Y. — Over 100 players converged on downtown Buffalo this weekend for one reason: to impress the hockey world in hopes of making their NHL dreams come true.

While personality and character are certainly qualities teams are on the lookout for, players truly had the chance to make their mark on the seventh floor of HarborCenter at the NHL Scouting Combine, where fitness tests designed to push each prospect to their absolute limit lined the boards of a converted ice rink.

The performances of current Buffalo Sabres players Jack Eichel, Brendan Guhle and Casey Mittelstadt at the combine were major topics of discussion in previous years—with Eichel and Guhle wowing those in attendance, and Mittelstadt being the subject of ridicule.

While all three have had success in the NHL, a lackluster showing has the chance to make a player slide down a team's draft rankings. Vice versa, an impressive performance might just make those hockey suits take a second look.
