The Ziyara Shriners are kick-starting the holiday season two years in a row.

The Shriners on Sunday hosted their second annual FEZtival of Trees.

This weeklong event showcases fully decorated Christmas trees, which are displayed and raffled off one by one to the public.

One of the head Shriners for Central New York, Michael Dunn, shared his experience of last year’s final raffle.

“This one lady had won and she just kept crying and crying,” said Dunn. “She said, ‘I prayed all week because this was the only way my kids were going to have Christmas.’”

Dunn and his brothers will showcase all of the trees from November 17-25 at the Masonic Care Community in Utica.
