North Country libraries will now offer more programs to engage in digital literacy and robotic skills.

The library system received more than $38,000 from the Spectrum New York State Broadband Access and Learning Grant.

Seven mobile maker kits and 15 internet kits will be shared among 65 North Country libraries. The mobile maker kits are traveling technology labs that offer equipment to teach hands on coding and robotics.

The internet kits are laptops with routers geared for people who don't have internet access at home.

"I think a lot of times kids in the North Country, and even adults, think that's stuff that other people do, that's not stuff that we do, or we don't have access to that,” said North Country Library System Director Susan Mitchell. “As one young person told me recently is this is stuff I didn't think I would ever see."

These new programs will be accessible to residents of all ages.
