Three different women with three different political agendas seek the New York 21st Congressional District seat currently held by incumbent Elise Stefanik.

Stefanik, a Republican, has represented the 21st for the past three years. During her time in her office, she says she has fought for economic growth.

"Another priority is to continue being the leading voice for Fort Drum, making sure Fort Drum is strong and here for generations to come. It is the largest single economic driver," Stefanik says.

If re-elected, she plans to continue fixing the North Country agriculture economy.

"I have been very supportive of the Farm Bill, which provides an updated insurance program for our dairy farmers who have experienced historically low milk prices," Stefanik says.

This exact bill is something her opponent Tedra Cobb is against.

"This particular farm bill has a $480 million increase to cotton subsidies. Last I checked, there weren't any cotton subsidies in Northern New York. This farm bill does not do what we need it to do," Cobb says.

Cobb is a North Country native and former St. Lawrence County legislator. She advocates for issues like affordable health care.

"I have a really deep commitment and understanding for health care. So that's been the reason why I'm here and a issue I plan to work on," Cobb says.

Also challenging Stefanik is Green Party candidate Dr. Lynn Kahn.

"I think that I'm going to be bringing forward the, and making loud of the voices of, people who are generally ignored and forgotten. And that they're not going to be able to ignore that," Kahn says.

Kahn is a psychologist who spent 20 years working with federal agencies and she also ran for president in 2016. One of Kahn's priorities is protecting the environment.

"What are we going to do so that veterans get the care that they need? What are we going to do about the contamination of our water supply?  I'm focused on issues and solutions," Kahn says.

One thing all three candidates agree on is fixing the North Country economy.
