The U.S. Secretary of Education made Paul Gasparini a member of the National Assessment Governing Board.

The Jamesville-Dewitt High School principal will help set policy for what's best known as the Nation's Report Card.

His job includes choosing test subjects, questions and achievement levels.

"I'm thrilled that to the extent that this brings attention to our district and our region," said Gasparini. "And to the extent that there are people from New York State on the board who can bring a New York State perspective."

Gasparini started this month, and will serve on the board for four years.
