Passengers can expect to see some changes at the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport.

Governor Cuomo helped break ground on a $24.7 million expansion. The terminal will be expanded by nearly 50 percent of its current size.

Visitors can expect to see a new border and customs protection building, turning it into an international airport. There will also be new amenities like larger waiting areas, charging stations, and post-security food options.

"You want to survive and thrive economically? People have to be able to get to you,” said Cuomo. “That's step one. And the new economy is not going to drive here. The new economy is global, it's international, and they fly."

Work is expected to be completed in late 2019.
