Anthony Wilson is a proud father with two children, a three-year-old and a newborn. He’s hoping to see them a little more clearly someday.

Wilson has a condition called Stargardt Disease which has left him legally blind since he was about seven years old.

“I have no central vision, I only see out of the peripheral part of my vision,” he said.

It can be very frustrating at times, he admitted.

“I’ve never been able to sit on the couch with my wife, I’ve never been able to read a book to my kid," Wilson said. "There’s stuff like seeing birds fly I’ve never been able to see.”

But after his grandfather-in-law, Jim Lamonica, helped him find Irisvision, goggles that could help him see with 20-20 vision, there was a chance of a better tomorrow.

“I got to see my newborn Isabella, her face, for the first time under that technology and it was amazing,” Wilson said.

However, the technology costs more than $3,000. Lamonica, a former chef, is hosting a pasta dinner Saturday evening behind the Holy Trinity Church in Webster to raise the money.

“This is the best thing we could do," Lamonica said. "It’s not only going to be a fundraiser, but we’re going to have a get-together and have some fun.”

With a GoFundMe and donations from their family and friends, they’re already half-way to their goal. They hope the fundraiser will put them over the top.

“Anthony deserves it," Lamonica said. "As long as I’ve known him, he’s never let his disability from doing anything.”

Tickets cost $10 per person or $20 per family and can be purchased at the door or here.

“It’s going to help so much, I can’t even put in words how much it’s going to help,” his wife, Lisa Wilson, said.

Wilson says it will change his world.

“All us legally blind people, we want to be able to do things on our own. We want to be just like everybody else.” Wilson said. "There’s so many things I can’t even describe that I’ve never been able to do that I’ll be able to do."
