New York State's all-time leading high school basketball scorer has committed to Syracuse.

Joseph Girard III of Glens Falls High School made his decision public in a press conference Sunday at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls.

Girard had previously narrowed his choice down to six schools: Syracuse, Boston College, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State.

Girard made his first official visit to Syracuse in June.

In the spring, Girard was named the USA Today New York State Player of the Year after averaging 50 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the 2017-18 season. In addition, he set the state's all-time scoring record, previously held by current Los Angeles Laker Lance Stephenson.
