President Donald Trump recently announced a new trade agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada, replacing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

The new deal, named the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA), will allow Canadians who are shopping in the United States an increased duty-free limit. The original limit was $20; it's now rising to $150. Purchases under $20 dollars were sales tax-free; now the sales tax limit has also risen to $40.

Many local business owners say they're looking forward to the change. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed the agreement on Sunday. Many businesses may not see the impact until next summer, when tourism peaks are at their highest.
