Several new businesses are now open in Watertown's Public Square, including Corner Stone Eatery, ice cream shops and a brewery.

There's been work all year to pave way for the expansions and revitalize the area. The main goal is to bring more people downtown and make Public Square the heart of the city again.

After so many businesses and chain shops moved to Arsenal and State Streets, the square is now a target for some local businesses.

"We have another restaurant here in Watertown and just was really excited about the energy,” said Geoffrey Puccia of Cornerstone Eatery. “What the city is doing with this area as far as improving the foot traffic here, just getting people and customers down to this area."

The work isn't over yet -- A new performing center at the Masonic Temple, Franklin Street facade enhancements, and a new tech center are also coming downtown.
