GENESEO, N.Y. — Police continue to search for a suspect described as armed and dangerous who fled on foot following a traffic stop in Geneseo Wednesday night.

The suspect, 49-year-old David Clyde Morgan of Wilmington, North Carolina, is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-9, 200 pounds and wearing a grey hoodie, grey baseball cap and jeans.

Deputies say a weapon was drawn during a traffic stop on Route 63, south of the SUNY Geneseo campus.

Morgan escaped into a cornfield, according to police. The officer involved in the incident was not injured.

According to officials, Morgan has a violent past and has served time in prison.

"I can promise you this, you have the most amount of law enforcement in Livingston County that you've ever had," said Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty. "So you're well protected here. Keep your doors locked. If you see something, call us immediately. If you have home security cameras, review them. If you see something on there, give us a call we'll send an investigator to review it with you."

The officer was able to apprehend a woman who was in Morgan's car and authorities say she is cooperating. The sheriff says she was in a romantic relationship with Morgan. She also told officials that the suspect believed there was a federal warrant out for his arrest, and that he was facing a life sentence in prison, which caused him to flee.

The female passenger has been identified as Sandra Brown of Southport, N.C. She is facing 6 charges including a felony charge for menacing a police officer.

According to court paperwork, Brown was the individual who pointed the weapon at the police officer during the traffic stop.

Police say the vehicle the two were driving on Rt. 63 was reported stolen to Myrtle Beach Police.

The officer involved was not hurt.

In response to the investigation, SUNY Geneseo canceled all classes and related activities for Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
