FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- An immigration battle is ramping up in the North Country after a couple of Mexican descent was detained while trying to visit their pregnant daughter on Fort Drum.

Concepcion and Magarito Silva were arrested on July 4.

When they got to the gate, they presented New York City-issued ID cards.

When asked for a different form of ID, they presented their Mexican passports. That is when they were detained.

Wednesday, their daughter pleaded for their release.

In an emotional statement, Perla Silva says both of her parents have serious medical conditions.

"If my mother was denied her heart medication before, who can assure us that they're not going to do that again to her or my father,” Silva said.

The Silvas' daughter lives at Fort Drum with their son-in-law, who is enlisted in the army.
