Christopher Hebert has been charged with murder in the 2nd degree.

And for people close to Lacey, this has been a long time coming. They're happy to see justice being served.

Yekel's body was found in August 2014 decomposed and partially wrapped in the woods South of Massena Industrial Park. DNA and dental records were used to identify the body.  She had been missing for two months.

Yekel's former boss at a local deli shop says she was a good person to work with and they were concerned about her spending time with Hebert, who is 45 years old. "I had suspicion. When I found out they were hanging together or something or doing some stuff I knew something's wrong. Then I heard the tragedy and I knew something was up," says Jim Venier who is the Owner of On A Roll Deli And Meats.

As for the suspect, this is not Hebert's first run in with the law. The St. Lawrence County District Attorney says he has four prior felony convictions and two of them are violent. Hebert pleaded not guilty and is being held at the St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
