SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Construction at Hancock Airport won't be complete until the fall, but officials say guests are handling temporary detours well.

Several areas of the airport are being improved as part of a $60 million renovation.

The project includes a new pedestrian bridge connecting the terminal and parking garage, along with a new drop-off area.

And the inside is getting a facelift with a new terminal, flooring, lighting and bathrooms.

In the meantime, airline counters and gates have been moved so guests are advised to follow detour signs and ask for help.

"They should take a little bit of extra time to get to the airport because of the construction, because of some of the detours.  We've relocated our tenants into new areas and we just want to make sure everyone has a good experience when they're flying out," said Syracuse Airport Executive Director Christina Callahan.

Work is expected to be complete by October 31.
