SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Climate safety is often seen as a global issue, but a group is hoping to inspire the Syracuse community to take action.

Plant Science and Landscape Architecture or PSLA hosted a Climate Safety Summit at Fowler High School Saturday. It focused on educating local activists and community members about climate issues.

The event also featured workshops and panels on different topics, including clean energy and sustainability projects.

"I think people can be very overwhelmed when they think about the climate crisis and what we're facing, but what's really exciting is that while human activity has caused climate change, humans can also be the solution,” said Betta Broad, New Yorkers For Clean Power outreach director.

All food served at the event was vegan, as experts say one of the best ways you can help the climate is by eliminating meat from your diet. They say gases produced by mass amounts of meat hurt the environment.
