COLONIE, N.Y. -- An early-morning fire tore through the Wendy's on Central Avenue in Colonie, where firefighters said the building is a total loss. No employees or firefighters were injured.

The fire began around 6 a.m., and crews arrived to thick smoke. The building was locked when firefighters arrived. Fire then broke through the roof.

Investigators say it was a gas-fed fire, but they do not have an exact cause yet.

Cold and icy conditions challenged firefighters, who got the fire under control in an hour.

The fire remains under investigation.
