AUBURN, N.Y. — Construction is beginning on a new Equal Rights Heritage Center in Auburn.

The new building will sit next to the Seward House Museum and across from City Hall.

Mayor Michael Quill expects the project to be complete by October.

He says the construction should be relatively quick because there won't be a basement or second story.

"I'm very excited about the final product. As to what it's going to be about: equal rights, the women's suffrage movement, everything involving Central New York here," said Auburn Mayor Michael Quill.

The $10 million project was funded by New York State.
