CLINTON, N.Y. -- Lots of area hockey fans are looking forward to a fun weekend in the Village of Clinton.

Events are taking place as part of the "Thank You Albert Prettyman Centennial Celebration".

Prettyman was the Hamilton College athletic director who iced over a tennis court 100 years ago to host the first hockey game in Clinton.

A Clinton hockey history presentation took place Friday at the Clinton Historical Society.

Many said hockey became a big part of the Clinton community and still is to this day.

"That's been a fun thing about this project," said Thank You Albert Prettyman Centennial Celebration Organizer Andrew Burns. Often, you hear people talking of history as if it's something that's gone, cigarette shop on the corner, candy shop on the other corner, but in this case we're talking about something with a rich history that's as strong now as it's ever been. And it will be bigger later."
