Angry residents say pinching pennies will hurt the Watertown School District.

Many voiced their opinions on the continuing battle with the Freeman School Bus contract.

At the school board meeting Monday night, residents came out demanding the board reconsider their decision.

Members opened a new contract with the First Student Bus Company instead of Freeman, the company that had been used for more than 80 years.

Residents fear the new school bus company will have a negative impact on the community.

“They’re worried about the dollars that it's going to save,” said former Freeman Bus employee Teresa Bergeron. “Thinking that matters more to the community than the care of their children and I think they're making a huge mistake."

The board said a new contract was already signed so they will be continuing future business with First Student.
