WINSTON-SALEM -- The upcoming now comes as no surprise to road crews. They've been out preparing for a couple days in anticipation of the wintry weather.

A press conference was held Tuesday afternoon and Gov. Cooper declared a State of Emergency.

State DOT workers say they feel well prepared for whatever mother nature throws at us..

"This seems to be a fast moving storm, it should move through the area. The temperatures as well as the forecast sunshine on Thursday should improve conditions greatly on Thursday,” said Brad Wall, an NC DOT division engineer.

As always, they say if you don't have to be on the roads to stay off.

That way crews are better able to clear as many roads as possible.
