MALONE, N.Y. -- A state of emergency for the village of Malone was lifted Monday, after being issued over the weekend.
Ice jammed up under the Willow Street Bridge, sending water over the river's banks and forcing street closures.
Malone's mayor says fortunately, there was only limited damage to nearby homes. He thinks the area will recover quickly.
"There's definitely some remediation that will take place from the areas affected by the water. Again the homes were impacted but it wasn't as severe as it could be, in case like what happened in Fort Covington,” said Malone Mayor Joe Riccio.
A state of emergency remains in effect in Fort Covington until at least Wednesday due to much more significant flooding.
