The Gloversville Fire Department is calling two people heroes after their actions saved three residents from a fire.

Firefighters say a fire broke out around 8 a.m. on North Main Street.

They say Christopher Rizzo and Virginia Cary saw the fire and started knocking on doors and honking their horns.

The two then went into the smoke-filled building and helped three people and their dogs to safety.

Firefighters say they located the fire in the furnace when they arrived and quickly put it out.

The residents were able to return to their home after the smoke was removed.
