ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Much of the area is getting its fair share of snow for mid-December, and that could soon translate to money for businesses.

Based on numbers from a 2011 study, the New York State Snowmobile Association says snowmobiling brings more than $160 million in to Central New York.

The co-owner of The Beeches Inn and Conference Center in Rome, Orlando Destito, said he's excited to see what the season brings for Oneida County. The Inn and Center are located next to a snowmobile trail.

"People should realize that this is a serious new industry for us, and I think that people should realize that there's a great opportunity for businesses to take advantage of this sport which is growing tremendously," Destito said.

Other business owners, like Frederick Rice of the Oak & Ivy Bed & Breakfast, hope riders will also consider visiting other places that are not on the trails.
