Early Wednesday morning, you could see a tractor trailer turned on its side off of I-81 south in Sandy Creek. It could be said that traveling was tricky -- especially in areas east of Lake Ontario like Sandy Creek and Pulaski.

"This is actually better than last night," said Sandy Creek resident Robert Brown.

"There was three feet of snow on my driver's side door, and I just tunneled my way through it," added Karrina Synder.

Residents were up early to snow-blow their driveways and clear off their cars.

"And I was up since 5 snow-blowing my driveway," said Lacona resident Jim Shaffei.

Many living in the area for years have dealt with lake effect snow many times. For some that are new to the area, waking to a winter wonderland is a bit of an adjustment.

"In Pennsylvania, schools would be closed for a week. Here we have one day," said Michael Ortiz of Redfield.

This is likely the start of more winter weather to come. If you're traveling in extreme weather conditions, drive slowly and not too close to other cars.
