MOUNT AIRY -- One Surry county man says almost every time he walks down a nearby path he finds needles!

This week, he decided to take photos of needles actually scattered around Main Street in Mount Airy. He doesn't think there's much more police can do, but says the city should be stepping up.

"I think our police chief is focused on dealing with drugs but he can't go out and pick up all the needles and I don't expect our police department to,” said Reggie Bowman. “But I think the city needs to focus in on and maybe create a hazardous department because this is a problem."

Police say if you ever find a needle never try to clean it up yourself always call police. Officers say if you must clear out needles you find, use another object to pick it up and wear durable gloves.
