SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Mayor-elect Ben Walsh spoke to the community about his campaign and his plans for the next four years Monday night.

Walsh talked about the three pillars of his campaign "Syracuse Rising" -- neighborhoods and public safety -- education and economic opportunity.

He shared there will be a committee for each pillar of the program.

Walsh also focused on his campaign and how he plans to maintain his optimism over the next four years.

"I really do believe our best days are ahead of us a community. We have all the ingredients to be an amazing community.  In many ways we already are.  I'm heartened for this country.  You can run a campaign based on hope and optimism, not tearing people down or tweeting people down,” said Syracuse Mayor-Elect Ben Walsh.

The speech was part of the Strathmore Speaker series. Walsh's public inauguration will be held January 6.
