UTICA, N.Y. — Hundreds of runners in Utica embracing the holiday spirit for the 33rd Annual Hunger Run.

Runners were asked to bring non-perishable foods or monetary donations, which will benefit two local organizations: Compassion Coalition and the Utica Rescue Mission.

"If we can help in our little way, that people can have food on their tables that's an awesome feeling for us, especially with today being Thanksgiving," runner Andrea Dziekan said.

Organizers say at first glance, they believe this year's donations surpassed last year's, with a few tons of canned goods donated.
