SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- With Election Day approaching, volunteers gathered at Our Lady of Pompei Church in Syracuse on Saturday to prepare meatballs for the annual Election Day feast on November 7th.

Participants spent the day rolling approximately 6,000 meatballs. The event is in its 68th year and proceeds will benefit the academy.

According to Father Daniel Caruso, the occasion has become a popular stop for candidates.

"It's a place to get to meet them and not to politic, but to remind everybody at that point that no matter what party is in power or who is running, ultimately we are one and that is what we celebrate," Caruso said.

The supper is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 7th.
