PAMELIA, N.Y. -- An early morning shooting in the town of Pamelia, in Jefferson County, left police investigating the death of a 20-year-old.

State troopers say Tyler Johnson was shot inside a home on Route 37 around 1 a.m.  He later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Police have not made an arrest in the case, but do have leads on a suspect. They believe Johnson knew the gunman and that there was more than one intruder.

“I would like to put the public a little bit at ease. We believe that the victim and the suspects knew of each other and that there was some type of relationship between the two of them, so this was not a random act of violence. This was something that occurred between the two of them and I'm hoping that gives the community a little more sense of relief,” said NYS Police BCI Captain Mark Lincoln.

Police are asking anyone with any information for help. They're asking people to contact the Troop D Headquarters in Oneida at 315-366 6000.
