SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: Two weeks ago, the Village of Chaumont started leading the charge to fill sandbags, hoping to beat the upcoming floods. They were filling thousands of bags, all by hand. Despite the Air National Guard coming in last Friday, the volunteer departments haven't quit, but fatigue is setting in. Plus, the demand is growing. For every bag that is filled, it seems someone needs two and it's only going to get worse. That's why Jefferson County has filed several new requests with the state. The highlights: an extension for the length of time the National Guard will be here, adding 20 more members to the detail, and a second machine.
