GENEVA, N.Y. — A Geneva man is facing felony charges after the humane society says his dog died when it was left inside a hot car.

Roger Chilson, 29, is charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal.

The Ontario County Humane Society says he left his 5-year-old boxer mix named Shadow in a closed car in his driveway on North Street for nearly an hour Wednesday,

That was a more than 80 degree day, but humane society officials say temperatures in the car reached upwards of 110 degrees.

A necropsy determined Shadow died of heat exposure.
