Police say 35-year-old Rayshonn Hester was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body just after 5 a.m. Sunday at the A-Plus Sunoco.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The gas station was closed as detectives started combing through the scene for evidence.

So far, there is no suspect information.

Anyone with details is asked to contact the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222 or by using the “SPD Tips” app.

The mayor released a statement Sunday saying:

"Even if it does not touch you directly, gun violence affects us all. Overcoming its causes and effects will require an all-out effort, every single day, and that is what we will do. We will not stop trying.”
