Eighty percent of the human services workforce is female, according to the Strong Nonprofits for a Better New York Coalition. And so the group says Women's History Month is the perfect time to give those workers in fields like child care and senior services a raise. The coalition is urging lawmakers to include $23 million in the budget to cover the costs of the minimum wage increase, and another $65 million to give a raise to workers making above the minimum wage.
