The unseasonably warm weather earlier this week led to a lot of snow melting and making its way into rivers, which then caused the layer of ice on top of the water to break up and start floating downstream. But sometimes those chucks of ice get caught on something and start to pile up into what's basically a dam. That is known as an ice jam, and one along the Mohawk River caused flooding in Schenectady County this week. It is not the first time that's happened, but Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara says it's something that can be prevented from happening over and over again.
