Governor Cuomo last week went on a statewide tour to tout $35 million of funding to increase capacity for after-school programs. Right now, more than 600,000 kids are enrolled in after-school programs, and this extra funding is expected to provide an additional 22,000 spots for students. Studies show that kids who attend after-school programs do better in the classroom and are more likely to stay out of trouble. Joining us to talk more about the impact this funding will have on New York's students are Chris Neitzey, Policy Director for the Network for Youth Success, and Ishmael Morton, the Program Director for after-school programs at the Boys and Girls Club of Albany.
