Sears is closing its Eastern Hills Mall location.

The company confirmed the store will close in mid-December, with a liquidation sale starting on Sept. 28.

The only remaining Western New York location will be at the McKinley Mall.

Sears has struggled recently as more and more shoppers buy their goods online instead of stores.

The company closed 240 stores last year.

In a statement, the company called the decision "necessary but difficult."

"We have been strategically and aggressively evaluating our store space and productivity and have accelerated the closing of unprofitable stores as previously announced," the company said. It did not divulge how many associates would be losing their jobs but did say those employees will be eligible for severance and can apply for open positions at other Sears or Kmart stores.
