All 3,400 employees at Xerox's downtown offices will be moved to Webster by the middle of this year.

The company announced the change Friday morning, saying the move "will reinforce our commitment to the region. By relocating our employees to Xerox-owned facilities in Webster, we will enhance team collaboration while investing in our owned facilities versus leased space."

Jeff Jacobson, the company's CEO, added that the move "makes economic sense."

Xerox sold its Xerox Square property to Buckingham Properties in 2013, signing an agreement to lease the property back for eight years with an option to renew.
