ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Monroe County's community leaders gathered Tuesday at the Rochester Rotary Club to reflect on past year's economic gains in the region. They discussed various successes, including a new marina in the Port of Rochester, which currently has a waiting list for dock space. They also highlighted redevelopments and the inner loop project.

Methods for getting around Monroe County have changed dramatically in the past year after the legalization of ridesharing. This was helped further when the City of Rochester partnered with a bike rental company Zagster, which rents bikes for $2 an hour.

Although Zagster is unavailable during the winter, with ridesharing and public transportation, there are year-round travel options for Rochester residents.

Mayor Lovely Warren says all forms of travel will help advance Rochester's economy.

"We are thankful for the partnership that we have built with Zagster, and how we provide transportation to our citizens, making sure that they get from point A to point B,” said Warren. "We developed a planning department this last year to really focus on not just what is happening today and tomorrow, but long into the future and we believe that by doing that, we can develop a platform that will be beneficial for all neighborhoods."

Mayor Warren and Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo met with officials from Uber and Zagster at Tuesday's luncheon to talk about the impact their services have had on the region.

"I mean lets face it, we have to make sure that we have amenities for people who are living here, and people who want to move here,” said Dinolfo.

Both Dinolfo and Warren hope that transportation programs along with other developments in the city will continue to attract people and businesses to Rochester.
