Championship weekend in Section V will kick off with a Class A battle at SUNY College at Brockport.

Last week, four-seed Victor knocked off top-seeded Canandaigua 27-7, avenging their regular season loss to the Braves.

Two-seed Irondequoit also had a statement win in the semifinals, topping three-seed East 39-8.

Both teams will be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Last year, Irondequoit lost the championship game to Wilson. The Eagles came into the 2018 season on a quest for redemption. Now 9-0 on the year, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 319-128.

Irondequoit's closest game of the year came against the Blue Devils back in Week Four. The Eagles’ 28-21 win was their smallest margin of victory on the year.

That close loss will certainly serve as motivation for the Blue Devils. When the two met in the regular season, Victor was ranked number three in the state, while Irondequoit was ranked number seven.

"It was a great game. I know we were on the losing end of it but it was a great football game," said Victor head coach Geoff Mandile. "They're good. Freddy is one part of it, but they've got four or five other guys that can take it to the house at any time."

Mandile, of course, is referring to one of Section V's marquee players, Freddy June Jr.

This time around it's Irondequoit with the higher state ranking. The Eagles are now number four. After a quarterback change and two loses, the Blue Devils fell to number 23, after last week's win they now sit at number 16.

"I'm going to be honest with you, both of our teams are different," said Irondequoit head coach Dan Fichter. "Victor and us are different than when we played in Week Four. So we're looking forward to a new Victor team and they're going to see a new Irondequoit team."
