This year Honeoye Falls -Lima is playing an independent schedule. The Cougars have scheduled teams out of Binghamton and Syracuse and their match-up with Greece Arcadia will be their second Section V opponent on the season.

"We were Class A for several years then all of a sudden we dropped down to Class B by just a few kids, so we needed to play more teams that were a similar school size as us," said Honeoye Falls-Lima head coach John Russ.

This year, the Cougars returned their entire starting offensive line. Four of those starters are seniors.

"They've done a phenomenal job with their leadership skills, understanding when we need to work hard, what kids need to work on," said Russ. "They've been through it for a number of years so they're bringing along the JV guys really fast."

"We pride ourselves on being experienced, knowing what we're supposed to do," said Honeoye Falls-Lima senior Josh Kosciol. "We're all pretty big and strong guys, but not compared to teams we play. We play a lot of big D-linemen so technique and toughness are what we have to focus on through the season."

And for Kosciol, toughness means a little bit more. The senior is returning from an ACL tear.

"It was tough, there were a lot of setbacks, you just have to keep your head down, keep moving," he said. "You have to stay confident because it's scary coming out worrying about re-injury, but you just have to be confident that you're good to go."
