Canandaigua took down division newcomer Webster Schroeder 34-8 Friday night.

The Warriors should be used to a tough schedule after spending the last few years in Class AA, but the Braves proved that this newly expanded Class A just might be the toughest in the Section.

Schroeder got off to a rough start, turning the ball over twice in the first half.

The Braves, on the other hand, clicking early on offense. Canandaigua came into the game with some uncertainties, running a new spread offense.

"A lot of question marks, we have never run an offense like this, but very pleased with the product on the field," said head coach Jeff Welch.

Quarterback Jack Johnson made a few big plays. In the first quarter, Johnson found Mitch Pfeifer for a 17-yard touchdown. Later, the two connected for 49-yards to take the Braves down to the one-yard-line. Johnson finished the drive with the keeper to score.

Spectrum Sports Player of the Game Seth Vigneri contributed as well, rushing for three touchdowns on the night.

"Our offensive line did their job every play, the cut backs were there. Everything went perfect with our O-line. They were coached up well," said Vigneri.

The Warriors got on the board in the final quarter as senior Luke Lupisella had a 58-yard carry to score.

Schroeder will have the chance to redeem themselves against another Class A opponent when they travel to Spencerport next Friday.

Canandaigua will also be also facing a division opponent, hosting Rush-Henrietta next Friday night.
