TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Syracuse (4-5, 2-3 ACC) missed a potential game-tying field goal as time expired and suffered a 27-24 defeat to Florida State (3-5, 3-4).

With 6 seconds to go and down by 3, senior kicker Cole Murphy missed a 43-yard attempt.

While the Seminoles struggled on 3rd down (1-13), they were able to strike with momentum-swinging plays. The Orange defense surrendered three touchdowns of 50 yards or longer.

Syracuse's Eric Dungey collected a career-high 109 rushing yards despite missing a quarter with a lower leg injury. He finished with 2 passing touchdowns and added another on the ground.

Syracuse was unable to slow down Florida State's freshman running back Cam Akers, who finished the day with 199 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Orange have now dropped two straight games since upsetting Clemson. They remain winless on the road and have dropped six straight away games dating back to last season.
